Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 16 August 2026

UK Mate ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our application handles your information.

Information We Collect

UK Mate does not sell your personal information.

If you create an account, we use your email address only for authentication purposes. You can sign in with an email and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Google Sign-In. If you use Google Sign-In, Google shares your name and email address with us so we can create your account.

Document & Data Storage

The immigration details, documents and other records you add to UK Mate (such as passport, visa and eVisa information) are stored on your device and synced across your own devices using Apple iCloud (via CloudKit), under your personal iCloud account. We do not upload your personal documents to our own servers, and we cannot access this data ourselves — it stays within your Apple ID's private iCloud storage.

UKVI Share Code & Immigration Status Features

UK Mate offers optional tools — Check my eVisa, Generate Share Code, Right to Work, Right to Rent, and Immigration Status — that help you use the official GOV.UK immigration status service. When you tap one of these tools, UK Mate opens the real GOV.UK website in a secure in-app browser (or your default browser). You sign in and enter any credentials, one-time passcodes, date of birth, document numbers or other personal details directly on the official GOV.UK page — never inside UK Mate itself. UK Mate cannot see, read, intercept, inject into, or store anything you enter on GOV.UK, and none of it is sent to our servers.

After you generate a share code on GOV.UK, you may optionally type that code back into UK Mate yourself so the app can remind you before it expires (share codes last 90 days). This is the only piece of information from this flow that UK Mate stores, and it is stored only because you chose to type it in — it is saved on your device and synced via your own private iCloud account (see "Document & Data Storage" above), the same as your other immigration records. It is never sent to or stored on our servers.

Firebase Services

UK Mate uses Google Firebase to provide secure account authentication. Firebase may process limited technical information (such as your email address and device identifiers used for authentication) required to operate the service securely. We do not use Firebase to store your immigration documents, records, or any share code or GOV.UK-related information — Firestore, Firebase Storage, and similar Firebase data-storage services are not used by UK Mate. UK Mate's backend does not receive, process, or have access to your GOV.UK credentials, one-time passcodes, or authenticated GOV.UK session at any point.

Subscriptions & Payments

UK Mate offers optional Premium subscriptions, handled entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. We do not receive, process or store your payment card details — these are handled directly by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.

Notifications

With your permission, UK Mate schedules local reminders on your device (for example, document or visa expiry reminders). These notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device and are not sent from or tracked by our servers.

How Your Information Is Used

Third-Party Services

UK Mate uses trusted third-party services — including Google Firebase, Apple iCloud/CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In and Apple's StoreKit — each of which has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data. Where you use the Check my eVisa, Generate Share Code, Right to Work, Right to Rent or Immigration Status tools, UK Mate opens the official UK Government (GOV.UK / UK Visas and Immigration) website directly in your browser, as described above; that service is operated by the UK Government, not by us, and is governed by GOV.UK's own privacy policy once you're on their site. UK Mate is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the UK Government or Home Office.

Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your UK Mate account and its associated data at any time from within the app, under Profile → Delete Account. This removes your profile, documents and saved plans from our systems and cancels any reminders associated with your account.

Children's Privacy

UK Mate is not intended for children under 13 years of age.
